Maximizing Engagement Through Regular Immersion in Computer Science (METRICS) is a grant-funded educational program pioneered by Winchester Public Schools of Winchester, Virginia. METRICS is a program specifically designed for introducing and educating elementary school children on computer science and STEM.
To develop a logo that visually communicates the computer science and STEM-centered programs of METRICS. Our team spent considerable time researching early education and technological logo development. What we developed kept the focus of technology and education at the core while also allowing room for creative interpretation.
The AHA Moment
Realizing that the METRICS program not only educated students but also fostered an opportunity to create, build, and ideate. The students were not just students; they were techies, thinkers, and tinkerers.
Designing a logo that tied the elements of technology, education, and inspiration together in a way that was not too childish or overly professional. The mark, being an incomplete robot, incites imagination, thinking, and action.
