Our team was first introduced to this global movement in 2016 by ASSETS, a local nonprofit in Lancaster, Pennsylvania whose focus is on transforming the community through ethical and inclusive business.
Around that time, one of our clients—Two Dudes Painting Company—became the first painting company in Pennsylvania to be certified, and we worked closely with them to craft marketing initiatives to get the word out about this achievement.
Through this work, we saw the certification as an opportunity to be an example in our community as well, so we began the process of getting certified.

Since Fig Industries was founded, we have given back to our community and ensured what we do is equitable. Our work through Fig magazine has a hyper-local focus, and as a publisher, we have to be mindful of our environmental footprint, which is why we have always printed on FSC Certified and recycled paper.
Our certification was a way to show the community our commitment to continue these big practices and encouraged us to look at the small decisions we make—like what paper towels to use or who to use for business services—through the B Corp lens.
