Designing TrellisWorks’ Brand Identity

Since 1990, Garden Spot Communities has cultivated spaces for purposeful living in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Following the example of the organization’s founder, Dale Weaver, Garden Spot Communities established a foundation that would make an impact, create a legacy, and build a connected framework where ideas take root and flourish. Fig Industries partnered with Garden Spot Communities to bring the brand to life.

Naming, Messaging & Visual Identity

We walked through our signature naming process, engaged in deep research and brainstorming sessions, and consulted residents. Using the information gathered during our discovery phase, we developed TrellisWorks—a brand that pays homage to Garden Spot Communities’ horticultural origins and signifies a framework for cultivating ideas.

We crafted thoughtful purpose and mission statements and designed a visual mark that worked in cohesion with Garden Spot Communities’ existing brand.⁠ The design introduces the “T” in an interweaving icon, reflecting the lattice of a trellis and symbolizing how individual life experiences come together to form a strong, flourishing community.⁠

With a focus on benevolent care, arts & culture, healthy aging, and brain health, TrellisWorks gives donors a tangible way to touch lives, nurture well-being, and strengthen communities, embodying the heart and values of Garden Spot Communities in every initiative.
