The Story Behind the Design: Studio 882

by Rebecca Fowler

Beautiful design, crisp photography, and concise copy come together to create the first volume of the Studio 882 Magalog—a luxury furniture guide as unique as Studio 882’s home and furniture design.

Studio 882, Philadelphia’s Main Line destination for custom home furnishings and interior design asked the team at Fig Industries to create a direct mail piece that showcases everything the award-winning business has to offer. The Luxury Furniture Design Guide is a feast for the eyes for anyone looking to update their home, with design tips and room-by-room inspiration.

It also highlights the services Studio 882 offers, including custom upholstery, bespoke furniture commissions, and professionally designed spaces.

The team started out by talking with owners Chad and Katie Grovers to understand their vision for the publication. The design had to reflect the same level of excellence as their beautiful, hand-crafted furniture. Fig Industries’ Josh Seibert designed a perfect bound piece printed on heavy stock with soft touch finishing, combining custom illustration and clean layouts to create a luxury coffee table worthy book.

“The response we’ve received from the magazine has been amazing,” said Katie Groves. “When we starting thinking about this project a few years ago, we knew it would have to completely stand out from anything our customers had seen before. Every detail of the magazine needed to provide inspiration and communicate luxury.

“Working with Fig Industries was the perfect partnership; they really understood our brand and made sure it was reflected in every element of the magazine. The result is more a coffee table book and less ‘magazine’, Katie added.”
