Fig’s Big Week

by Amy Hynes

It’s been a big week for the Fig team. We celebrated a milestone anniversary, threw our largest launch party yet, introduced our first-ever candy bar, and changed the name of our company. Whew!

Ten Year Anniversary

Ten years ago, Deborah Brandt, the owner and creative director of Moxie House, had an idea. She saw potential in the City of Lancaster and knew businesses would be stronger if they worked together. With a background in package design and an eye for compelling photography, she created a beautiful 14-page booklet of local eateries, shops, and services. Fast forward 10 years, several late nights, and hundreds of cups of tea later, Fig Lancaster is now a 124-page publication seen by 120,000 readers each quarter and Fig now represents five cities: Lancaster, West Chester, Kennett Square, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Columbia, South Carolina.

Fig Industries is Born

Formerly Moxie House, the team behind Fig re-branded to Fig Industries. We’ve always been a passionate design studio with one mission: Design for Good. In addition to designing and publishing Fig, we provide voice and vision to businesses through branding, packaging, marketing, and photography. We can also print custom invitations, announcements, and holiday cards on our three antique letterpress machines. And with the recent addition of a PR specialist, we’re happy to now offer press release support.

The Party

With an anniversary to celebrate and a new company name to roll-out, we knew we needed to have one big party. We hosted a building takeover at 26|East, Downtown Lancaster’s newest hotspot, which features a gourmet French bistro and bakery on the first floor, two floors of event space, and a gorgeous rooftop bar that overlooks the City. The party ended up selling out and we unveiled the big news to our readers and friends. The champagne was flowing and the dancing went into the night.

The Candy Bar

To celebrate 10 sweet years of Fig, we also introduced a golden ticket candy bar campaign. We designed the packaging for our own special Miesse Candies chocolate bars. Inside 10 bars are golden tickets that can be redeemed for an amazing prize valued at $500+. (A pair of 18kt gold earrings, private chef’s dinner party for 6, and a season of performances at the historic Fulton Theatre are just a few of the prizes.) The candy bars are for sale at retailers throughout Downtown Lancaster and a portion of the proceeds benefit our social mission partners.

Candy Bar Campaign Fig Holiday 2015

What’s next for Fig Industries? The holiday issue for our other Fig locations will release in the next week. We’re also busy developing the packaging for a high-end libation (details to come) and planning an all-company retreat. Like Fig Industries on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay in the loop.
